Previously, tests by a Reddit user showed that if the console was in instant power mode, it would consume 25 watts compared to 0.5 watts if it was turned off completely. This may not seem like much, but it causes the console to get a little hot and the fan to keep running. The trick to stop the fan is to close all running games so that they do not stand idle in the background and thus cause the fan to run while the console is still technically turned off. The fan also remains operational if the console still needs to cool down after a game session.
